JoySens 1.3 is out!
This release adds a DPad/Analog swap function on popular request as well as provides a fix for analog sticks that completely deny to respond in one or two directions, which is caused by the stick returning too small values even when pulled to the extremes. You now also can change the configuration for the primary plugin button, which was hardcoded to the NOTE button till now. The download also includes a 3.71 compatible (and only!) version of the plugin, so make sure you use the correct one. For 3.71 with 1.5 kernel patch you need both versions actually to make the plugin work in 1.5 homebrew - see the readme for instructions.
PS: I also started writing a FAQ.txt so if you have any questions, be sure to read that FIRST!

Hey rapahel! I just wanted to say i really appreciate your work. You’ve saved me from opening my psp to see whats wrong with my analog. I was on the edge of my seat about to open it but decided not to risk it because i wouldn’t know what to do after ive opened it.
So i browsed on the internet going on google asking on forums and ended up finding the Joysens Plugin. This is the main reason why im upgraded to custom Firmware.
All i can say is raphael should win plugin of the year award!

I just want to say that this plugin is a great idea and I have a few questions that I want to ask:
1) Which plugin version do I enable if I’m using it with the M33 3.71 custom firmware with the 1.5 kernel plugin?
2) Does this plugin work with both firmware and games?
3) If I enable only the GAME150.TXT plugin, would I still be able to use it in the VSH?
4) I’m trying to use the plugin with “Dragoneer’s Aria” and “Blade Dancer” and I’ve set it up to disable the analog stick but I can’t use the D-Pad at all… What’s the correct setting I should use?

Thanks for the great plugin!
Thanks to a simple “center = ” config (took less than 1 minute to configure) now my analog stick is working better!
But I thing I have found a little bug about the primary button mapping. Seem like NOTE is hardcoded somewhere.
I already use NOTE for screenshot plugin, and wanted to use “primarybtn = VOLDOWN”.
That way, I though I could press VOLDOWN+CROSS to reset, but instead I have to press NOTE+VOLDOWN+CROSS.
The show info output is still triggered by NOTE, and to pin/unpin it I have to press NOTE+VOLDOWN+TRIANGLE.
Is that right? Because that way all my screenshots are grabbed with unwanted “info output” data.
I’m using version 1.3 on 3.71 M33-3 CFW, with 1.50 kernel addon.

I noticed that little bug a while earlier already - seems I wasn’t too focused when I added the primary button mapping. It is already fixed in the current source and will be released with version 1.4 (or maybe 1.31), depending on how much things I find to work on still.

how would i know if joysen is working? I put it in SE plugins on my 3.52 M33-4 fat psp and enabled it but dont know how to actiate it. All i want to do is disalbe my analog stick.

Seems it can’t run under custom program,i put it in SE PLUGINS/GAME150.TXT and enabled it and when I run custom program PSP will automatically shut down.Any solution?

i installed the 1.3 (firm 3.71 M33)..it seems to be working (disabled faulty analog) but when i go into game play it resets the values and so the analog takes over and does the same annoying down constant movement…how can i make sure the values i put for the plugin stay like i want them through out?

Hey raphael, nice plugin, I`ve tried adjusting by watching the analog axes, but mine keeps moving liek crazy and I can`t get a tight fix, Dead Head Fred analog works slighty better than GoW, but still moves alone no matter what, sometimes the analog refuses to even move…
Oh, On certain games like Dead Head Fred, when you shift Analog to DPad, I can`t use the original functions for which the DPad was intended, could you possibly add a function that makes the analog/dpad inputs the same, but acces the original Dpad functions by holding another button?
In English = When not pressing an extra button, the guy moves, but if I hold “L” the guy doesn`t move, but I can use the non analog menu.
I think I`m speaking chinese here lol

@ZZGUNDAM: I’ll have a look at changing that for 1.4
@IMIX and all others with 3.80-m33: You need to use the non-371 version of the plugin ONLY! If that’s not enough also be sure you have the 1.50 kernel addon for 3.80m33 that was released recently (http://www.dark-alex.org/150k_addon.rar). If it still won’t work, please contact me again and I’ll see what I can do.

I try the plugin on 3.80M33-5 with the 1.5 Kernel as well, but for some reason I can’t get it to work even though I enabled it. Is this supposed to be an in game process or can you do it on the XMB background??

Any word on 1.4 and if it’ll work on 3.90M33? My psp is pretty much worthless without the plug in. Analog goes all over the place whrn I try and play games that use the analog stick. Like in WWE smackdown the analog is used for taunt. So every 3 seconds he’ll do a taunt and it messes up everything. In tomb raider the character walks slow even though I’m pushing forward to run or she walks to the right by herself. I’ve even changed out the motherboard on my psp and it still does it. I may have to downgrade back to earlier M33 to use this plug in until its updated.

I really appreciate how Joysense has helped me so far; but I agree with Drdre74…. can you please release an update that is compatible with 3.90m33! I can’t use my PSP either without this mod. I wouldn’t have upgraded had I have known joysens wouldn’t work.

Hi. I have a little problem. I’m using a 3.80 m33-5 with an 1.50 kernel. And your plugin is not working ( i’ve tried to install it like paulodeleo ) . It also didn’t work when i was trying to install it on 3.71 m33-4. This plugin is my only option to fix my joy. I’ve tried everything else and it’s my last hope.

I am currently using this fantastic plugin on my 3.90m33-3 Phat PSP, it works fine in games, but is not enabled in the XMB. I have no reason to lie about it working or not. In a few previous attempts i remember having my PSP freeze on boot, but since an update and a theme change everything works well proper! My great THANKS go out for this awesome plugin!

Shut the f**k up mike. KeyCleaner will not fix compatibility issues. It only fixes the your PSP IDStorage. If messed up your IDStorage with KeyCleaner, you simply break some PSP functionalities and can only be fixed with a NAND dump or send back Sony.
So quit telling people to brick their PSP.
Anyway, use joysens.prx instead of joysens371.prx (this is for CFW 3.71 only).

thank you, great job. this plugin works really fine but one more thing would be perfect… can you add a swap for analog with the x-o-triangle-square buttons? games like call of duty doesn’t let you play with analog as the first person look… and if you change the note button with something like L+note, it will be less annoying…

well what i did to get it working is i moved all my files off my memory stick to my computer then i formated the memory stick then went into recovery and formatted my flash1 drive and reset all setting which is a option in the advanced menu in recovery mode then i restored default settings regularly then added all my stuff onto my memory stick again then i added joysens.prx then added them to text named game and vsh then i was done and it worked if it doesnt work for u there might be something wrong with ur psp

This may be old news, but on 3.90m33-3, joysens.prx works with the fatsmod v2. VSH & on GAME.
I tried using it before that and it didn’t work. It just froze up and shutdown.
This was tested on a PSP-S.

I can confirm its working on the latest firmware for phat, 4.01 M33-2.
How to definately get it working:
1. Backup all your save data
2. Do a complete re-install, formatting the memory card and flash1.
3. Install the 1.50 add-on.
4. Install the 1.50 version of joysens
5. Restore your data.
Best to reinstall other prx’s that you use, rather than copying them back.

The latest firmware version is 4.01 M33-2 and JoySens 1.3 works with that firmware, as I’ve tested it myself. If it won’t work for you, try formatting flash1 in recovery menu and reboot. Afterwards it should work fine.
Just don’t use the joysens371.prx!
Anyway, 1.4 is close to getting finished, the new config system just keeps being picky on running properly.

Hi there,
I’m using CFW 390 M33-3 ETC and have just put 1,4 on but can’t get anything working.
I have enabled the files in recovery mode but see nothing when i get to xmb. my analogue however just goes bit crazy thats all.
Am I missing something??

See nothing as in a black screen or just that you see nothing different from the XMB?
In the first case, try formating flash1 from the recovery menu.
In the latter case, you won’t see anything unless you press NOTE + Triangle, which pins the info output to the screen (read the readme for more information on what options you have). If you still see nothing, make sure that you enabled joysens.prx for VSH in recovery. If that still won’t help, e-mail me and I’ll send you a debug version that at least tries to generate some informative output to a log file.

The psp anolog was stucked in the forward position, it kept going upward in scummVM and normal games. I was even thinking about opening the psp :S
