In the first case, try formating flash1 from the recovery menu. In the latter case, you won't see anything unless you press NOTE + Triangle, which pins the info output to the screen (read the readme for more information on what options you have). If you still see nothing, make sure that you enabled joysens.prx for VSH in recovery. If that still won't help, e-mail me and I'll send you a debug version that at least tries to generate some informative output to a log file.
